ITIA members, at their EGM on January 13 , voted to return to the ongoing negotiations with Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, (DECLG).

Repak ELT CEO Seamus Clancy, said: “We welcome the news that ITIA members are returning to the negotiations and will value their input into the ongoing consultation process.”
Repak ELT also claims that local authorities (LA’s) have had a busy start to the year, visiting tyre outlets and confirming their commitment to make tyres a priority waste stream for 2016.
Clancy explained further: “Enforcement is the single most important issue for everyone in the process. It must be robust and effective to ensure that compliant businesses benefit, with exacting penalties for non- compliant operators. The LA’s have made it clear already this year that they mean business and are targeting non – compliant tyre businesses.
Repak ELT is reminding businesses that under the current legislation, all tyre operators, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, retreaders, collectors and recyclers have an obligation to register and report their waste. Naturally, it says that joining Repak ELT is an affordable, convenient and simple way to ensure your business completes its legal waste compliance obligations.
